Every one of the 14 public schools located within the master-planned community of Kingwood, part of the Humble Independent School District are rated Exemplary for TAAS test
scores, according to the most recent statistics. TAAS scores for 2000 show the Humble Independent School District exceeding the state average in every grade level and in every subject.
Subject matter tested includes a mix of math, reading and writing, depending on the grade level. Tests are administered to students in 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 10th grades.
Additionally, Kingwood high school students are college-bound -
more than 94% of students graduating from Kingwood High School attend
college. The latest SAT and ACT scores available showed students in the Humble Independent School District outscored other students in Texas and in the Nation in both the verbal and math categories.
Humble ISD formed an education foundation comprised of district staff and
community members as a commitment to excellence in education. The Humble ISD Education Foundation raises money to fund projects that fall outside the scope of the school district's normal operating budget and is governed by a volunteer board with up to 31 community members serving on it. May 2000 marked the Foundation's first year with more than $45,000 in grants awarded to teachers for use in their classrooms.
